Profiling Gubernatorial Aspirants of Kaduna State: REP. MOHAMMED ISA ASHIRU
Hon. Ashiru is presently a member house of Representatives representing Makarfi/Kudam federal constituency. He was elected to the Green Chamber in 2007. Before his ascension to the position of national lawmaker, he was a member of Kaduna State House of Assembly from 1999-2007. While a member of KDHA, Ashiru chaired the most influential house committee on appropriation for 8yrs. On arriving in NASS in 2007, he was made deputy chair house committee on appropriations and member of several committees. He has been occupying the position till date.
Hon. Isa Ashiru is no doubt influential among his colleagues in the National Assembly. Authoritative source holds that the entire members of NASS are behind his aspiration and promised to individually and collectively work for actualization of his 2015 gubernatorial ambition.
The lawmaker is seen as the political god son of former Governor now a member of the Red Chamber, Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi. The entire Makarfi’s political machinery in Southern Kaduna are busy mobilizing and acquiring structures for campaign offices in Southern and Central Kaduna zones. This group under the leadership of Hon. Felix Hassan Hyet, former minister of Aviation were sighted in an office in Zabura Plaza Ungwan Romi inspecting an offices acquired for that purpose. Mr. Hyet is said to be eying the office of the Deputy Governor.
Hon. Ashiru told a committee led by former Zone Three PDP chairman, Joseph Sir Juri who went dissuade him to abandon his ambition of running for governorship in 2015 last month that; come rain, come shine, he will challenge Governor Yero in PDP. Ashiru is no novice in the game and knows when it’s a quarter midnight. Above all, he is super rich with the financial muscle to give any incumbent a fight of his life.
Hon. Ashiru versus His Excellency Muktar Ramallan Yero tango will surely be an exciting drama we wait to see. We wish the lawmaker luck and Allah’s guidance.
